Videx has introduced a new distribution unit, the 316C, for its digital VX2200 range of door entry video systems.

Simplified video entry system installations

The distribution box makes it easier for video systems to be installed, designed specifically for use with Cat5/Cat6 cabling which is becoming an increasingly popular cable choice for video entry system installations.

Steve Natton Special Projects manager at Videx said, "The 316C distribution box is specifically designed for the digital VX2200 video systems which enables installers to use standard Cat 5 cable with RJ45 connectors to make the connections between the videophones and the riser. Most installers will be very familiar with the use of RJ45 connections in the fields of access control, door entry and CCTV. The new unit will simplify the installation and help the installer in any fault finding should the need arise.

Compatibility and connections

The new distribution unit can be used with the 6000 Series range of videophones which includes the 6276 3.5-inch videophone, 6378 3.5-inch handsfree video monitor, 6478 4.3-inch handsfree video monitor and the 6778 7-inch handsfree video monitor. These videophones also include an RJ45 connector.

Steve added, “The 316C unit includes all the bus connections including pass through connections and each unit supports up to four videophones. A facility to use larger cable sizes on the main riser is also included for longer cable distances. Included in the unit is a ‘power on’ LED to indicate when the distributor has +20Vdc power connected, a ‘bus’ LED to indicate when the 2 wire L and - bus voltage is present as well as an end of line video signal termination switch.”
