Hikvision USA Inc., a leading provider of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and other emerging technologies, and manufacturer of video surveillance products and solutions, announced that a Hikvision employee, Matthew Elder, has been awarded a Security Industry Association (SIA) RISE scholarship.

Launched by SIA in 2016 to foster career development of young professionals in the security industry, the SIA RISE group membership is open to professionals that are under age 40 or have been in the security industry less than two years and are employees of SIA member companies.

Elder, Hikvision West Florida sales associate, is one of 10 young security professionals to receive a $3,000 scholarship to be used for professional development in marketing and sales, information technology, project management, or security engineering and risk management.

Data understanding leads to growth

I will use the funds to take multiple courses including Microsoft’s Professional Program in Data Science and the University of Washington’s Essentials of Cybersecurity,” said Elder. “I believe that data and its understanding is the key to growth in life and business. I also hope to continue expanding my knowledge of cybersecurity to build upon my IT degree.”

I am inspired by the next generation professionals who applied for scholarships,” said SIA CEO Don Erickson in the SIA RISE scholarship announcement. “They displayed their ambitions and creativity in applying for the SIA RISE Scholarship, and they are proven assets to their companies. SIA looks forward to continuing to support the careers of these winners and other young professionals in the security industry for many years to come.”

Hikvision values SIA programmes

As a member company of SIA, Hikvision appreciates the valuable programmes SIA offers to young professionals through its RISE program, as well at the variety of other SIA programmes that enrich our industry,” said Alex Asnovich, head of marketing for Hikvision North America.
